Is This Star Wars Fan-Favorite Returning Alongside Lando in Rise of Skywalker?

It’s beginning to look like Lobot could appear in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker with Lando Calrissian. We haven’t seen the character on the big screen since 1980’s The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars fans have been wondering if he’ll return. A lot has gone on since the last time we saw Lobot, though more of his story has been told in the comics over the years, including a near-death experience which happened before Lando teamed up with the Rebels.
One eagle-eyed Star Wars fan noticed an interesting detail in a new picture of Billy Dee Williams’ Lando Calrissian. Upon closer inspection, one can easily see he is wearing a very familiar bracelet, which he used to speak with Lobot in The Empire Strikes Back. Could it be that they’re still hanging out after all of these years? It is entirely possible since the two have a very strong bond and have gotten each other out of several sticky situations before in the past.
While bringing Lobot back for The Rise of Skywalker could be pretty easy to do, they would have to use another actor. John Hollis played the character in The Empire Strikes Back, but he sadly passed away in 2005. In order for Lobot to come back, they would either have to recast him or go the digital route. With that being said, J.J. Abrams and Lucasfilm have been against the idea of bringing Carrie Fisher back digitally, so one would imagine they would feel the same way about bringing in technology to take over for Hollis.

J.J. Abrams and crew were probably just paying extra close attention to the original trilogy when bringing Lando Calrissian back. A cape is a must, but the communication bracelet might just be an extra touch for the eagle-eyed fans looking for further Easter Eggs. The Resistance is taking on the First Order and they’re going to need all of the help they can get, so it will be interesting to see if Lando brought anyone else with him. It’s entirely possible that there’s a tribute to Lobot in The Rise of Skywalker, we’ll just have to wait and see.
There has been speculation about the true nature of Lando and Lobot’s relationship, with some insinuating they were more than friends. In Solo, we learned Lando is pansexual, which gave him the convenient nickname of “Pando.” It’s debatable whether or not the two had a romantic relationship, but The Rise of Skywalker definitely isn’t going to get into that territory. J.J. Abrams has way too much story to tell and Lando’s personal life will probably be left out this time around. While we wait to see of Lobot makes a return in the final installment in the Skywalker saga, you can check out the detective work to spot the communication bracelet below, thanks to Ricky Villanueva’s Twitter account.
